Passion Project

What is your passion project?
We are now doing a football tournament for year 7 and 8 because the other groups are also doing basketball.

What have you learnt/done so far?
We've emailed Mr Hillard if we can use the two Gym and sports equipment.

How does this help you achieve your passion project?
This would help us to achieve our passion project if Mr Hillard allows us to use the gym and the sports equipment.

What is your next step?
Our next step is to plan how are we going to run it

What evidence do you have that this is something you need to do?
We have to learn the rules of the game because only 1 of us know the rules.

Please provide a screenshot or photographic evidence of your work so far.

Passion Project

What am I learning?
we are learning to work in groups and trying to achieve the things we planned on doing. We know that by finishing the work together. I am working with Vince, Gian, Jhade, Roswell, and Ray. We are planning to run an event where we will train the two school primary kids and after that, we will verse them.

What is S.W.O.T?
S.W.O.T is the group's strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. Here is our S.W.O.T

S.W.O.T Analysis
Topic: Sport
Strengths
  • Fast Learners
  • One of us  has experience in coaching
  • We stay on task
  • We are capable of finishing the work that is given.

Weaknesses
  • We can’t speak English fluently.
  • We are not confident enough to show or present in front of the class.
  • Some of us does not know how to coach and ref a game
Opportunities
  • We will have better communication skills.
  • The community will be more active
  • Hornby High School will be well known to their love of sports.
  • Our school will be well known for improving or taking action for our community.

Threats
  • The other schools might not let us teach them
  • Some kids might not want to play basketball and something instead.
  • Kids might not commit or work with us when we are teaching them.

Action: We are going to coach primary students to play basketball and then put on a tournament for them to compete again each other.

By doing S.W.O.T, we now know what our weaknesses and strengths and this will help us in the future.

Matariki

Matariki, a group of 7 stars, can be seen in the north-east sky. People call it by many names like ‘Mother with 6 daughters’, ‘The 7 sisters’, and  ‘Gods eye’. Interestingly, it only appears in the last few days of May and can last for 3 days. These cluster of stars is important in the olden days because it signals the people that the winter is coming and they need to start to gather and preserve the crops. Nowadays, Matariki is still important because it gathers the whanau and remembers their ancestors who had passed away.
