Earthquake proof house

What makes a home earthquake proof?

The structure has to withstand, or move undamaged, the earthquake's force should pass through the frame of the house to its foundation and leave the house intact.
The walls of the house should be anchored securely to foundation slabs. Otherwise, the house will slide along the foundation slab. The anchor bolts should fasten the sill plate.
