Are plastic getting into our food?

There is a growing evidence that plastics are getting into our food. With billion of plastics floating on the ocean, there is a high chance that it is poisoning the marine life. Not only that, but there is also an indication of plastic polluting the soil.

With nearly 14 billion pounds of plastic getting dumped in the ocean. This is most likely to pollute and damage the marine life. Unfortunately, billions of plastics are floating in the ocean and break into small pieces-microplastic- and feeding the marine animals. With the microplastics working their way to the marine animals, that means that plastic is now part of our food chain.

According to soil scientists, they have found that not only our ocean is polluted by plastic but also our soil. They said that the third of all plastic waste contained in the sewage. Significantly, sewage is used to fertilised farm, this means that the microplastic is ending up into our soil.

We use the soil to plant our food, so if the soil is polluted. Our crops could also be affected. Furthermore, animals sneak into farms to eat the crops. So if the crops are affected. The animals that ate the crops will also get affected. While us humans hunt these animals for food. Not knowing that those animals are carrying microplastic that can give many diseases.

Nowadays, everything has plastic in it. Our food, our water, and even the animals are carrying plastic to their body. It could take time to eliminate plastic, but If we start now, we can take one step to the future where there is no more plastics that could harm us. Stop recycling! start reducing!
